Burgundy & Alsace
Family Holiday | Food and wine | Culture Immersion | Small Group JourneyAccommodation: Signature hotels
Availability: March To December
A wine region famed for its eponymous wines as well as Pinot noirs, Chardonnay, Chablis and Beaujolais, Burgundy is a great location for videophiles who enjoy a wide variety of tipples. But it’s not all about the alcohol, as the area also boasts a plethora of antiquated villages to transport you back to Middle Ages and the Renaissance, with the timber framed buildings of Troyes being a prime example of the area’s historic splendour. Follow up your tour of Burgundy with a visit to the fascinating Alsace region, which is renowned for its cultural fusion of Germanic and French influences, due to exchanging hands between the two countries over the years. By basing yourself in picture perfect Strasbourg, you will be able to experience its winding canals routes and quaint wooden-beamed houses, as well as a variety of nearby villages including Colmar (the home of Alsatian wine) and the tiny medieval (and romantic!) village of Riquewihr, which is famous for its Riesling and looks exactly the same today as it did in the 16th Century.
